While in NY for Christmas, I did a whole lot of shopping. After the Kate Spade planner disappointment, I wasn’t really thinking about getting any new planners, nor was I actively looking, besides occasionally perusing the VdS site and thinking about an A6…
One rainy, cold day, my mother, boyfriend, and I went to NYC. We were wandering downtown from the Natural History Museum when we passed a Housing Works shop. Housing Works, second-hand shops in NYC whose proceeds go to housing and other care for people affected by HIV/AIDS, used to be one of my favorite places to visit when I was younger, so of course I insisted we go in. I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, so I spent a short while just browsing the clothes and shoes and bags, then a long while helping my boyfriend decide if he wanted a nice Kipling suit bag or not. Just before leaving, we glanced quickly through the housewares section. I was standing by a table, waiting for my mom and boyfriend to finish looking through the plates, when something on the table caught my eye just as we were about to leave – a small planner!
It was pocket size. I picked it up, and lo and behold! A Filofax! And it was only $5! I jumped at the deal and didn’t hesitate in the slightest. I decided I would think of a use for it later.
The planner itself is in really good condition – it either hasn’t been used much or the previous owner took very good care of it. It’s a Denim organizer, which as far as I can tell is a limited edition from 2007. The original care card for the denim is in the pocket, the rings are perfect, the zippers are great, and there were even a few inserts included, including the plastic ruler and pouch.
My favorite insert is an unfinished New Year’s Resolutions to-do list…I’ve even left it in the planner as I’m currently using it, because I like it so much! This is the type of planner I never would have bought for myself at full price, because I’ve never been attracted to denim planners. All that’s changed now that I’ve had it in my hands – this thing is beautiful!
So of course, the question was, what was I going to use the planner for? Fortunately, the opportunity presented itself. My boyfriend and I got engaged over Christmas, and are planning an early 2018 wedding. So, my new pocket planner has been converted into a wedding planner…post soon to come!

Thanks! And yes, I’ve seen lots of this type of find on Facebook or other blogs, but since I don’t go to second hand shops very often and currently live in Spain where Filofax isn’t that big, I never expected I would find one! 😉
I got my red mini denim in late fall 2005. It’s a cute line! Great find.
